The connection of the plot with Catholics and
in particular with Jesuits made depiction of
objects of veneration (known then as: "trishtrash" and of symbolic depiction of Religion extremely important.
The plot and its sad end were clearly used by Catholics as objects of inspiration
just as they were utilized by the Government as warnings and evidence of
supernatural protection.
