  Jan 24th Saturday   Beginning at 4 PM

 Join in the fun of Fruit Tree Wassailing!

This is an Old English tradition where a token fruit tree is the centre of our rite. We sprinkle it with cider, to awaken its sleeping roots & sing (wassail songs) to ensure a good crop.
 Dressed in warm medieval attire come drink up the warm spiced cider & eat fruit sweets at the after Wassailing party at Loxley Abbey.

We will Wassail a near by pear tree & 2 apple trees in walking distance from the Abbey. Please bring a fruit snack for the after gathering.

Celebrate Christmas in the Country with a toast to the apple trees. Enjoy the old English tradition of Wassailing through the orchard, and partake of the fruits of our harvest around a crackling bonfire!! Delight your palate with fabulous foods from fresh orchard-grown ingredients. Toast the apple trees with one of our great hot wassails -- made from mulled cider, brown ale, apple wine, or Calvados. You might even try floating toast in your WassailEnhance your revelry and cheer with Wassailing games and songs. The Orange-Peel Border Morris

January 17 2003-Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Orangeville- side will celebrate our 'traditional' 'annual' wassail -- for the second time! ... -- at the home of friends just outside of Orangeville on 2003 January 17. We'll follow the outline of the Carhampton, Somerset, wassail in the apple orchard. We'll also dance a bit outside -- very weather dependent in our winters, and then retire inside for sustenance and

StoneCreed Grove will hold our annual Yule Rite this year on December 22, 2002. The rite is during the late afternoon, then we eat and Wassail
(around 7:30 for those uninclined to attend the rite).
Stonecreed grove is a member congregation of ADF, a reconstructionist tradition of neopagan Druidry. We hold an Anglo-Saxon Yule rite every
year followed by Wassailing, Yule Carols and assorted dancing and mummery.
When: Sunday, December 22nd, 2002. Rite at 4pm, Wassailing around 7:30.

Wassailing in 2001

On Sunday, 21st January, 2001,Wokingham, Berkshire
A traditional event revived to be re-enacted in a Berkshire village.
commencing 1pm, the Emmbrook Wassail will be performed at the Thatched Cottage pub in
Emmbrook Road, Wokingham, Berkshire.OBJ Morris will warm up the event from 12.30
and several other invited morris teams will be adding to the jollity.

January 6th Minneapolis/St.Paul
at 1pm Kari Tauring and Friends will host our first anual
Wassailing the Tree finish to our Second Anual Yuletide Celbration (see
www.karitauring.com - we have linked to your wonderful site!).
We will meet at the Dowling Community Garden Orchard off of 46th Avenue
and 40th Street South (near the River Road).  Bring Cider and singing
voices...and tall boots.  The snow is DEEP out there!

This is also the second of three rituals done to honor this orchard,
long neglected.  We hope to obtain permission to maintain this 80+ tree
orchard with organic methods and Integrative Pest Management.

Hope all in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area can be made aware of this
fantastic resource!

The third annual traveling downtown Albany Wassail party will be
on Saturday afternoon, January 13th from 1:30 to 5:30 in the Center
Square section of downtown Albany, NY.

 An hour or so in each of several different houses in
the neighborhood. Dancing here, singing there, storytelling
somewhere else and a Mummer's play. All within walking distance of
each other between Lark St. and the State Plaza, from Jay St. to
Chestnut St. Plenty of good food and good cheer, all within
walking distance. Children welcome.

We lost a couple of houses for this year's event, so two sessions
will be at our house.

Optional: Wear unusual headgear or carry something like a holly
branch. This is traditional to identify the revelers outdoors as we
travel from house to house.

Musicians, bring an instrument (Not optional).

Our group, PuzzleJug, will be presenting a programme of old
Gloucestershire carols and wassails at various locations in
November/December at the following locations:

25th Nov - Cheltenham Music Library
2 Dec     - Tewkesbury Library
12 Dec   - Dursley Folk Club
16 Dec   - Newent Library.

The programme will include our rendition of the Arlingham wassail,
complete with wassailing bowl and "broad".  The Broad is a sort of
imitation bull, very stylised and a bit like the Mari Lwyd. - Gwilym Davies
