The Commemoration Needs Scientists

I hope that you will find this effort a good way of reaching the public, for drawing attention to work in the area of potatoes, and for educating the public in the needs for crop protection. Please feel free to circulate this information to other departments, institutions, and individuals.

I am very interested in making sure that scientists working with the potato, especially those working on p. infestans, have an opportunity to take part along with those interested in history and politics. Important agricultural, chemical, and lifestyle lessons and dimensions of the Great Famine need to be explored. The Famine has many important dimensions.
