Now one of the conspirators held a bill against Lord Mounteagle. As parliament would be blown up before the bill became due, this conspirator writes an anonymous letter and with a runaway knock, leaves it at his Lordship's residence imploring him, as he values his future account, not to attend Parliament for the next three months. This letter is more than Lord Monteagle can grasp.  His lordship is completely doubled up by it.  He tries very hard to get through it but to no end.  Having heard however, that His Majesty is the most lettered man of the day...
