Praties They Grow Small

(The Famine Song)

Oh the praties they grow small, over here (2x)
Oh the praties they grow small
And way up in Donegal
We eat them skins and all, over here, over here
We eat them skins and all, over here.

Oh I wish that we were geese, night and morn, (2x)
Oh I wish that we were geese
Till the hour of our release
When we' d live and die in peace, stuffing corn, stuffing corn
When we' d live and die in peace, stuffing corn.

Oh, they'll grind us into dust, over here (2x)
Oh, they'll grind us into dust,
But the Lord in whom we trust
Will return us crumb for crust, over here, over here
Will return us crumb for crust, over here.

"Written by singer, songwriter, and fellow patriot of mine. His name is Eamonn Mc Girr and he hails from Derry in Northern Ireland. He now lives in Loudenville NY. He has recorded the song in the past and has just re-recorded it on a CD for September 1996 release (benefits to the Center for the Disabled in Albany). Eamonn's daughter Marina has Cerebral Palsy. Eamonn just recently broke the world record for non-stop singing--11 days--to benefit the Center. He can be reached at (518) 463 - 7440 and I can be reached at (518) 482-5664.
I helped put a www page together for Eamonn's world record."
