Father Henry Garnet is pictured below, as the saintly martyr complete with the wonderous "corn". While born an Englishman Garnet appears almost Italian in this image. Clearly triumph after death and the continuation of the cause are purposes for this image. A strange fate for the man who could have stopped the plot in its early phases and therefore eliminated the risk of explosion.
